The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) have recently given a little bit of guidance about the future of the ETS Compensation scheme.

Update on the ETS and CPS Scheme - The Aluminium Federation

The new scheme year began on 1st April so 4 months ago and for those of you who are currently part of the scheme DBT you may be wondering when you will receive an update on this years scheme. DBT have confirmed they are currently working through reconciliation of annual returns and setting up the payment process for the year. They expect to be making payments starting from mid-August through to the end of September.

Any new applications are also being worked across the same timeframes. In terms of this years prices they have also confirmed the prices below:

  • ETS: £45.47 / tCO2
  • CPS: £18 / tCO2
  • Marginal Emissions Factors (MEF): 0.42

Finally, in light of the recent change of government they are looking to clarify the support beyond FY 24/25. At this stage they have no plans to close the ETS Compensation scheme, but final details are subject to ministerial approval and the upcoming spending review.

If you would like to discuss your personal claim or if this is a scheme you haven’t looked at or would like to review, please feel free to contact ALFED Supplier Member, Leyton who can give you advice on the scheme.
