This prestigious initiative, led by Innovate UK in partnership with India’s Department of Science and Technology (DST), offers a share of £2 million for innovative sustainability projects developed jointly between the UK and India.

Revolutionising Aluminium Additive Manufacturing

Brunel University London aims to transform the aluminium additive manufacturing sector by significantly reducing its reliance on primary aluminium. Instead, this project will focus on end-of-life recycling, circular economy principles, and net-zero carbon objectives. The initiative seeks to develop a new, sustainable manufacturing pathway for impurity-tolerant, low-embodied-carbon aluminium alloy products, produced through additive manufacturing. This innovation will set the foundation for a greener, more sustainable future in industrial manufacturing.

Key Competition Details:

  • Funding Available: Up to £2 million
  • Project Grant Request: £100,000 – £300,000 per UK partner
  • Project Duration: 6 to 18 months
  • Start Date: By 1 September 2025
  • End Date: By 31 March 2027
  • Application Deadline: Wednesday, 12 February 2025, 11:00 AM UK time

UK organisations must apply through Innovate UK’s Innovation Funding Service (IFS) portal, while Indian partners will apply separately to the TDB programme. Indian partners will be funded exclusively by TDB.
