The move towards Net Zero has led many industries to address the subject of improved efficiencies, light-weighting and miniaturisation.Aluminium Alloys for Improved Thermal Management - The Aluminium Federation Meeting these goals has highlighted the challenge of thermal management and the efficient exchange of heat. This frequently creates a compromise between space, weight and efficiency. Printed circuit heat exchangers (PCHEs) offer a solution to this challenge. PCHEs are currently commonly made from ferrous and nickel-based alloys, but the use of lower density alloys, such as aluminium alloys could prove to be advantageous. TWI are working on a project to investigate and develop aluminium alloy PCHEs in order to meet this growing industrial need, offering solutions for industries across the transport sectors and elsewhere.
