The Environment Agency has developed a full and summary briefing to support their revised approach to Climate Change adaptation within EPR. A summary of which, is that they are moving the focus from permitting into compliance by an increased focus on adaptation within sites management systems (the requirement has been within the MS guidance since 2019 and they are wanting to focus on that requirement to help ensure more permitted sites are considering adaptation risks to and from their business). The changes affect regulated industry permits and IRPP permits in the first instance. Both briefings provide advanced notice of the changes that start to take effect from the 31st August 2022.
