With a goal setting workshop, a two-course meal, and drinks on the menu, thirty Women with Metal sat down at the Hilton Garden Inn, Birmingham, to network, learn and enjoy each other’s company.

Following on from our inaugural conference in October 2023 we wanted to ensure that delegates didn’t have to wait twelve months before our next event and so began our series of regional events prior. The first one was held in Birmingham city centre on a blustery January evening and was an intimate workshop on goal setting presented by Steph Snade.
With the supply chain represented from stockholders to processors, fabricators to architects, metal recycling to associated industry professionals, the event enabled the delegates to network as well as learning new ways to identify and achieve their personal and professional goals.
Feedback from the delegates was enthusiastic and positive with many identifying how the evening had given them clarity on their goals for the year ahead:
Breaking down goals in more measurable actions for me is going to be key. The circle of control was great as some of my goals are focused around others – influencing is going to be huge for me to get further to my goals through others. Steph was highly engaging and presented really well. Great evening!
The networking element enabling people to sit and chat over a glass of something was met with enthusiasm and once again proved that sitting with your industry colleagues and being able to learn from each other is invaluable for progress. One of the themes from the evening in the delegate feedback was identifying progress and ensuring that we celebrate the steps we achieve towards our goals.
Today I have learnt that I need to break my goals down into smaller steps and give myself a pat on the back every time I get a step closer…
In today’s busy world it can be difficult to find time to simply think, or work on planning the next steps in our development, whether personal or professional, and without a plan in place progress can stall.
To be more conscious of goals and how to develop plans to ensure goals are met for both me and my team. I have enjoyed time ‘thinking’.
Kirsty Davies-Chinnock, Founder and CEO of Women with Metal said “I think smaller events allow an intimacy in conversation between the delegates as well as ensuring that the workshop itself delivers to each and everyone. Steph Snade was simply fantastic and ensured that there was tangible value for each person to take away with them. My thanks to Steph as well as Peter Comerford from Comton Media who popped in to take a few pictures and ended up staying for the whole evening. This is only the second Women with Metal event and I am looking forward to the next regional event in the Spring as well as our annual conference in October which this year is being held at The ICC Birmingham. ”
