About National Manufacturing Day

Following the success of the previous two National Manufacturing Day events, members of the public will be invited into factories and sites for a behind-the-scenes look at how Manufacturers’ facilities work, as part of this UK-wide Open House.

In an industry that is currently in the middle of a nationwide skills gap, this shows the importance of National Manufacturing Day as it gives local communities the chance to see the potential careers and jobs on offer within the manufacturing sector, as employers involved in the event are delighted to engage with all age groups – from school leavers, to graduates, people looking to reskill, and the local residents.

According to Make UK themselves, the day will demonstrate the value of a manufacturing apprenticeship as an alternative route post school/college. Make UK will be promoting these apprenticeships and other opportunities to women and other minority groups, thereby helping to attract new and diverse talent for all businesses who are looking to develop their future talent pipeline.

National Manufacturing Day is a celebration of all of the industry’s sub-sectors including automotive, food and drink, aerospace, defence, chemical and pharma.
