ALFED are pleased to announce BOAL Extrusion UK’s General Manager, Emma Swann as the new chair of the Extrusion Sector Group.

ALFED Announce BOAL’s Emma Swann as NEW Extrusion Sector Group Chair - The Aluminium Federation

Emma will take over the role from past chair, Spencer Melia, Sales Director of Aluminium Shapes, who has taken the decision to step down from his position following his recent move to the depth of Cornwall, along with several other commitments. In his resignation, Spencer nominated Emma Swann of BOAL Extrusion Ltd, and this nomination was accepted by members attending the meeting and Emma was welcomed into the position.

The ALFED team would like to thank Spencer for his time and dedication over the last five years and for keeping the group going throughout the COVID years! We are very much looking forward to working with Emma and developing the objectives of the group, as well as diversifying the meetings to include more face-to-face networking opportunities, regular market updates and information sharing.

Speaking on her new position, Emma has commented on her plans for the extrusion sector group moving forward, and on what it means for her and BOAL: “Firstly I’d like to express my gratitude for being given the privilege to chair the Extrusion Sub-Group at ALFED.  The aluminium industry plays a critical role in the UK achieving its carbon reduction targets.  With supply chains switching to aluminium, securing light weight, cost-efficient, versatile and durable product, it’s endless recyclability mean it truly is the component of choice to align with circular economy principles.  I’m excited to lead the Extrusion Sub-Group, exploring the opportunities to share knowledge and discuss challenges.  We will do this by bringing in key stakeholders to join some of our meetings; where relevant we can join with other subgroups in ALFED, and I plan to schedule a combination of virtual and face to face events.  With the opportunity to visit key locations and of course, we will welcome our fellow members of the Extrusion Sub-Group to the BOAL Extrusion UK plant.  On behalf of BOAL, I look forward to taking a more active role to lead our industry towards a greener more sustainable future”.
