The session opened with a warm welcome from Positive Planet’s Account Manager Alexandra Boase, setting the tone for a morning of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and practical guidance. Sustainability experts Dr. Michael Kenyon and Connor Grisdale then led the workshop, delivering a dynamic and interactive deep dive into the rapidly evolving environmental compliance landscape.

Attendees gained valuable insights into current regulatory requirements and expectations for environmental assessments. The session highlighted the growing importance of accurate and robust data collection, essential for organisations seeking to maintain compliance while promoting transparency and accountability.

Key frameworks and methodologies explored during the workshop included the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), Product Carbon Footprinting (PCF), and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). Each plays a vital role in helping organisations measure, manage, and communicate their environmental impact in today’s increasingly regulated global market.

Sophie Allen, ALFED Membership Account Executive, said:
“It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout and real engagement from attendees. Workshops like this are crucial in helping our members navigate the complex world of environmental compliance while embracing sustainability opportunities.”

“Positive Planet was delighted to deliver a session for ALFED, supporting the UK aluminium industry with an overview of environmental assessment practices. A key focus of the session was reinforcing the importance of robust data collection, which underpins the majority of environmental assessments. We look forward to continuing our support for the UK aluminium industry in navigating these important environmental frameworks.”

Participants left with a clearer understanding of both the challenges and opportunities within sustainability compliance, equipped with practical knowledge to guide their own environmental strategies.

A heartfelt thank you to the Positive Planet team for delivering such an engaging and informative session, and to all attendees for making the workshop a success.
