New Opportunities Project, which operates from North Motherwell Parish Church, has received vital funds for its Youth Clubs from EMR Bellshill. Young people benefit from donation to North Motherwell New Opportunities Project by local metal recycler, EMR - The Aluminium Federation

The project supporting local families throughout North Motherwell was established in 2007. Since then, the group has worked to strengthen the community by offering opportunities for individuals to participate in a range of activities including a Parent and Toddler group, a youth club, a Community Café and Health and Wellbeing Group. The project believes that local people have the skills and good will to develop activities for the benefit of all and works with them to develop the activities they want.

In the aim of supporting the group to offer opportunities to local young people, EMR Bellshill has offered a £2,000 donation to support the project’s Youth and Athletics clubs. This will enable young people between the ages of 8 and 16 years of age to access each club for a year.

Jacqueline Scott of New Opportunities Project shared her delight in joining forces with EMR Bellshill: “On behalf of the New Opportunities Project, Reverend Derek Pope and I are delighted to receive this grant from EMR Bellshill and to partner with a local company this year. EMR’ s generous donation will be used to benefit local young people by allowing us to support individuals across our Youth and Athletics clubs.”

Gordon Hill, Safety & Environment Specialist at EMR Bellshill added: “I have first-hand experience of the difference the New Opportunities Project makes in the local community. I am proud that we are able to support them in the work that they do.

“The passion that Jacqueline and the team have for providing opportunities for young people is immeasurable and I am excited to see the impact that this donation will have on their lives.”

The Young Futures Reimagined initiative launched by the metal recycler in 2020 aims to support young people across the country to build brighter futures. Since its inception the programme has seen EMR’s UK sites partner with local charities, schools, social enterprises and community groups.
