Membership Benefits

Joining the Aluminium Federation (ALFED) provides exclusive access to a range of benefits designed to support and empower businesses across the UK aluminium industry. Membership Tiers

To be eligible for ALFED membership, companies must meet the following conditions:

    Board Membership

    Board Membership provides organisations with the highest level of engagement within ALFED, offering strategic influence, enhanced industry visibility, and direct participation in shaping the direction of the UK aluminium sector.

    Strategic Industry Leadership
    Board Members play a central role in the governance of the Federation and are eligible to vote at both ALFED Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting, contributing directly to the strategic direction of the organisation and its representation of the UK aluminium industry.

    Direct Policy and Trade Engagement
    Board Members may nominate a company representative to participate in the ALFED Trade Committee, providing a direct platform to contribute to discussions on trade policy, regulatory developments, and key industry issues affecting the sector.

    Enhanced Training Opportunities
    Board Members can nominate up to ten members of staff to attend ALFED’s World of Aluminium and Aluminium Light training programmes free of charge. In addition, Board Members are eligible to receive one customised training course tailored specifically to their organisation.

    Industry Data and Market Intelligence
    Members receive regular UK aluminium trade data reports circulated monthly and quarterly, providing valuable insight into market trends, import and export activity, and wider sector performance.

    Sector Engagement and Collaboration
    Board Members have access to all ALFED Sector Group meetings and may send up to three representatives to each session, enabling deeper collaboration across key areas of the aluminium value chain.

    Industry Visibility and Promotion
    Board Members receive an enhanced company listing within the ALFED website and Member Directory, including company branding, alongside opportunities to share company news and updates across the ALFED network.

    Business Support Services
    Through ALFED’s partnership with Croner, Board Members have access to professional HR, employment law, and health and safety guidance to support organisational compliance and workplace management.

    Events, Networking and Government Engagement
    Board Members receive invitations to parliamentary meetings where applicable, as well as access to policy briefings and Government engagement events hosted by ALFED. They also benefit from discounted exhibition opportunities at UK Metals Expo.

    Standard Tier 1 & 2

    ALFED Standard Membership provides organisations across the aluminium value chain with access to industry insight, practical business support, and direct engagement with the UK aluminium community. Members benefit from trusted information, sector representation, and opportunities to strengthen their position within the industry.

    Industry Data and Market Intelligence
    Members receive regular UK aluminium trade data reports issued monthly and quarterly by ALFED, providing valuable insight into import and export trends, market developments, and sector performance.

    Professional Training and Industry Knowledge
    Standard Members can nominate up to five members of staff to attend ALFED’s flagship training courses – World of Aluminium and Aluminium Light – free of charge. These programmes provide essential knowledge of the aluminium value chain, industry processes, and market dynamics.

    UK Metals Expo Benefits
    Members receive discounted exhibition rates at UK Metals Expo, the UK’s leading event for the metals supply chain, providing opportunities to showcase products, connect with industry leaders, and stay informed on innovation and sector developments.

    Business Support Services
    Through ALFED’s partnership with Croner, members have access to professional HR, employment law, and health and safety support, helping organisations manage workplace responsibilities and regulatory requirements with confidence.

    Industry Representation and Advocacy
    ALFED actively represents the UK aluminium industry in engagement with Government and policymakers. Members receive access to parliamentary briefings, policy updates, and Government-facing events hosted by the Federation.

    Governance Participation
    Standard Members are eligible to vote at the ALFED Annual General Meeting, ensuring they have a voice in the strategic direction of the Federation.

    Members benefit from a company listing on the ALFED website and online Member Directory, as well as opportunities to share company news and updates across the ALFED network.

    Associate Membership - Supplier

    Associate Membership is designed for organisations that supply products, services, or expertise to the aluminium industry and want to build strong relationships within the sector. It provides visibility within the ALFED network and opportunities to engage with companies across the UK aluminium value chain.

    Industry Visibility
    Associate Members receive a company listing on the ALFED website and within the online Member Directory, helping raise visibility across the UK aluminium industry and making it easier for members to connect with potential partners and suppliers.

    Promotion Across the ALFED Network
    Members have the opportunity to share company news, announcements, and updates across the ALFED network, helping promote business developments and increase awareness within the wider aluminium community.

    Networking Opportunities
    Associate Members are invited to attend ALFED member networking events, providing valuable opportunities to build relationships with aluminium producers, processors, recyclers, distributors, and other industry stakeholders.

    These events provide a platform to strengthen commercial connections, gain insight into sector developments, and position your organisation within the UK aluminium industry.

    • Board and Standard membership tiers will receive access to regular UK Trade Data Reports. These reports, provided on a monthly and quarterly basis, offer crucial insights into industry trends and data, helping members stay competitive and informed.
  2. Tailored Training Opportunities
    • Members will have access to customised training sessions:
      • Board Members: Opportunity for 1 x customised training course for up to 10 staff members.
      • Standard Tier Members (1 & 2): Access to training for up to 5 staff members. These courses include ALFED’s “World of Aluminium” and “Aluminium Light” training programs, equipping your teams with essential skills and knowledge.
  3. Discounts for UK Metals Expo
    • Members will continue to enjoy substantial discounts for exhibiting at the UK Metals Expo, offering the opportunity to showcase their work, connect with industry peers, and expand their networks.
  4. Enhanced Legislative Support
    • Through our partnership with Croner, Board and Standard members will gain access to HR, Employment Law, and Health & Safety Support. This support is available through Croner’s expertise, ensuring members remain compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
  5. Voting Rights
    • Board Membership: Eligibility for voting rights at both ALFED Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
    • Standard Tier Members: Eligibility for voting rights at the AGM.
  6. Networking and Government Engagement
    • Board and Standard Members will gain access to Parliamentary Briefings and Government events, offering a platform to engage with policymakers and influence the future of the UK aluminium industry.
  7. Sector Group Participation
    • Members can engage with all relevant ALFED Sector Group meetings for an additional annual fee. Up to three representatives per member company can attend these critical discussions, ensuring strong representation and access to sector-specific insights.
