CoreFlowTM: Subsurface Machining for Aluminium Applications - The Aluminium FederationTWI has developed an innovative new subsurface machining technique called CoreFlowTM, which allows for channels to be integrated into two or three-dimensional aluminium parts in a single manufacturing step. These channels can then be used for a wide range of applications, including cooling, lightweighting, lubrication, embedding instrumentation, cable management and more. With applications across industry, this process has been shown to work effectively with aluminium AA6082-T6 and AA1050-H14 plates as well as other materials.
