ALFED, the Aluminium Federation, are delighted to be working alongside Primetals Technologies to co-host an event aimed at exploring some key themes related to the UK aluminium flat-rolled products market.

Aluminium flat-rolled products are made by rolling thick aluminium slabs through steel rolls to reduce thickness and extend them using hot and cold rolling techniques to reach the desired final thickness. Flat-rolled products are usually divided into two types based on their manufacturing processes: cold rolling and hot rolling. There is set characteristics and benefits for each. Essentially hot rolling refers to a process that involved heating the metal above its recrystallisation temperature, allowing the grain structure of the metal to be altered, resulting in improved ductility and strength. Alternatively, cold rolling is a process that involved cooling the metal below its recrystallisation temperature, helping to improve the hardness and strength of the metal while also reducing its ductility.

The event programme has been carefully designed to explore important topics that are currently driving growth markets, such as packaging and automotive batteries production. It will delve into these key sectors through engaging presentations, insightful panel discussions, and a workshop tour ALFED to Co-Host Supporting a Circular Economy Event at Primetals Technologies UK - The Aluminium Federation

Throughout the day, some of the key industry themes set to be explored are:

  • Expectations of the UK can market (circular economy)
  • Where is the foil for UK battery production coming from?
  • Maximising productivity: new vs. old equipment
  • Ensuring product quality through class leading flatness and control

As a member only event, we are please to offer complimentary admission to this event for all ALFED members. It is set to be an excellent opportunity to network with industry professionals, exchange ideas, and celebrate the achievements together. We are confidence that the knowledge shared, and the connections made at this event will contribute to the advancement of your business in the UK aluminium industry.

ALFED CEO, Tom Jones, commented: “The notable growth factor for the global Aluminium Flat-Rolled Products Market is the booming demand for these products in packaging and automotive applications. The event will provide a great opportunity to network with fellow industry professionals and gain a broader insight into the current state and future of the Aluminium Flat-Rolled Products Market in the UK”.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided throughout the course of the event for all attendees.
