Aluminium: Use, Re-Use and Sustainability in The Built Environment

Thursday 27 February at the TWI headquarters near Cambridge

A free workshop in collaboration with TWI exclusively for ALFED & TWI members.

Delegates will learn from and have the chance to engage with experts from TWI, ALFED and other contributors from industry, academia and government about designing for build and sustainability. We shall discuss fabrication, joining and surface engineering solutions that can cope with dissimilar material mixes, and the need to ensure compatibility with efficient “closed loop recycling” regimes.

There will be a complementary exchange of ideas around significant opportunities emerging in “smart cities” and associated alternative energy options, including reference to new momentum in the “hydrogen economy.”

As well as presentations, networking opportunities and a tour of TWI’s facilities, attendees will be encouraged to work together interactively in helping to form ideas for future direction, focus and effort at TWI and ALFED, both individually and collectively.

The event is also a chance to engage with some of our Equipment, Consumables and Materials Members, who will offer insights into their own enabling technologies.
