Key note speakers Paul Williams from CRU, Katy Hyams from LME and the BEIS Brexit team spoke on issues of Brexit and the impact on UK trade if there is no deal, the European trading position, the China and USA trade wars and the global economic impact that effects the UK Aluminium industry. These and other Brexit topics supported an engaging meeting with politicians, BEIS officials and representatives from throughout the UK Aluminium Industry .
Mr Giles Ashmead ALFED’s President said;
“Most people in the aluminium industry would agree that we need there to be a deal with Europe, with no tariffs or border controls, we need that deal in place by March 29th, and we ask that all parliamentarians work together with our civil servants and our colleagues in Europe to achieve that aim, putting aside personal opinion to focus on the big picture for the good of the country as a whole, to insure the impact on aluminium, on manufacturing and on business in general is as limited as possible.”
