Climate Change Agreements - The Aluminium Federation

Update on applications from new entrants

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has provided the following update about new entrant applications:

Climate Change Agreements - The Aluminium Federation

“At Autumn Statement 2023, Government announced a new, 6-year Climate Change Agreements (CCA) scheme and published a consultation seeking views on proposals for the new scheme. The consultation included a proposed start date for new entrant applications of 1 May 2024.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has not yet published the final policy decisions as they are still considering the responses received to the consultation which closed in February. DESNZ have therefore decided to pause the opening of the new entrant applications period until after publication of the government response to the consultation.

Therefore, the application period for new entrants will not open on 1 May 2024 and the dates for new entrants to apply to join the scheme prior to the start of the future scheme will be announced in the government response to the consultation.”
