Aluminium: Use, Re-Use and Sustainability in The Built Environment

Thursday 27 February at the TWI headquarters near Cambridge

A free workshop in collaboration with TWI exclusively for ALFED & TWI members.

Delegates will learn from and have the chance to engage with experts from TWI, ALFED and other contributors from industry, academia and government about designing for build and sustainability. We shall discuss fabrication, joining and surface engineering solutions that can cope with dissimilar material mixes, and the need to ensure compatibility with efficient “closed loop recycling” regimes.

There will be a complementary exchange of ideas around significant opportunities emerging in “smart cities” and associated alternative energy options, including reference to new momentum in the “hydrogen economy.”

As well as presentations, networking opportunities and a tour of TWI’s facilities, attendees will be encouraged to work together interactively in helping to form ideas for future direction, focus and effort at TWI and ALFED, both individually and collectively.

The event is also a chance to engage with some of our Equipment, Consumables and Materials Members, who will offer insights into their own enabling technologies.

For more information, the agenda and to register, head over to the TWI website.

Cyber Security in Aluminium Workshop

Cyber Security in Aluminium Workshop

In association with the Future Aluminium Forum and Coventry University

26th – 27th February 2020

Coventry, UK

Recent Socio-economic conditions, coupled with advancements in technology (both Cyber – IoT, Big Data, AI and Physical – Additive manufacturing, automation, remote sensing) are disrupting the traditional business models and redefining how businesses compete or survive in the future.

Accompanying this revolution, however, are cybersecurity threats that impede business growth and innovation within the sector.

Do you know what measures your company should be taking to protect its operations, plants and people?

This dedicated Workshop will bring together manufacturers, processors and OEMs to gain an understanding of the unstructured and diverse nature of cyberattacks in the Aluminium sector, their potential impact in terms of costs and damage, to the organisation and industry, and the need for new approaches to manage the digital risks.

Particular emphasis will be put on the sector’s requirements for effective preparation, identification, containment, eradication and recovery from cyberattacks, as well as the lessons to be learned by the industry on how to maintain its business operations and legal obligations while dealing with a cyber-incident.
