ALFED Members visit new LME building

ALFED members recently visited the new home of fellow member London Metal Exchange in London, which trades 75% of the global non-ferrous metal volume. LME's Oscar Wehtje explained how aluminium is traded on the LME, and described recent initiatives to improve liquidity and transparency. Members then viewed live 'outcry trading' in the ring, the last of its type in the world.

Aluminium casting plant for Telford

Magna International has chosen Telford as the site for a 225,000 sq ft aluminium casting facility, mainly initially to supply JLR. Construction is expected to start this autumn, with production scheduled to begin in 2018.
